The fact that you know a person is dealing with a particular
‘spirit’ does not mean you are equipped and authorized to fight that spirit.
Yes, it is that simple and straight forward.
I have come across and am familiar with the prayer books by
Elisha Goodman. The books are loaded
with hundreds of prayer points that are aimed at breaking down all sorts of
demonic forces going back all the way to you grandfathers generation.
The thing is though, if you go around starting fights with
demons that are not bothering you, you will eventually end up being a victim of
those demons. It is possible to get carried away with those prayer points and pick
on spirits that have nothing to do with you
.
One of my favourite pastors said “a spiritual novice is a
demonic victim’. You are not equipped to handle every demon you think is out
there. There are levels to this battle thing. In the same way that when the
children of Israel were prepared to meet
God, He gave them boundaries. Majority of them could only go so far up
the mountain, only Moses was allowed to proceed past a certain point. In that
same way, even in spiritual battles, in demon casting, in healing in visions,
there are levels of access and authority.
Do not pick a battle you are not equipped to fight and then
cry foul when those demons show you who’s boss. Some of you who try to fight
spirits aren’t even known at the throne. The name of Jesus is not a magic word
that you use to get your way. Your ability to use the power in that name,
depends on your relationship with the bearer of that name.
The apostle Paul was known in spiritual realms as a friend
of God. In the books of Acts chapter 19 from vs 11. Some Jews took it upon
themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over some people who had evil
spirits and the evil spirit answered ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who
are you?’
You’re out here trying to cast demons and fight spirits when
the neither the throne nor the spirits know who you are.
You have no
relationship with the God whose name you mention so casually, and yet you
expect to be able to do things in His name. I’m gonna need you all to go back
to the drawing board and re-think your entire warfare strategy.
